Panchiko Research

Updated: Feb 23

Upon interviewing lead vocalist of Panchiko, Owain Davies, I used sources like google to learn about the band, their humble beginnings, the success after being rediscovered 20 years on. I also watched other interviews with Panchiko such as Panchiko Interview: Destroy Lonely Collab, 4chan, and Twinks and watching informative videos such as Panchiko DEATHMETAL - Tales From the Internet and Panchiko: A Musical Mystery – LukeOnDemand.

I also looked at their social media accounts to see how they interact with fans and promote their music.

Panchiko are a rock band that started in the 2000s in Nottingham, by 4 friends at High School; Owain, John, Andy and Shaun. In 2016 a 4chan user posted a photo of their album, D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L, on the website after they bought it from an Oxfam charity shop in Nottingham, which was the first wave of public attention for the band. It wasn't until 2020 when people were able to find 2 of the band members, Owain and Andy. Since then, the band have released remastered versions of their older music. In December 2021, the band performed for the 1st time in over 20 years in their hometown Nottingham, before embarking on their first tour in the United States. They amassed over 10 million streams on Spotify in November of the same year and as of 2023 they have over 800,000 monthly listeners. Robert Harris (Rob) and John Schofield joined in 2021, whereas the original John has not been found. The band disbanded in 2001 after finding little success in their early days.
