Yemen is a country in the Middle East bordering Saudi Arabia and Oman in the Red Sea with a population of 32.98 million. Yemen has a strong military background , with no nuclear weapons program, 66,700 troops, relying on volunteers 18+ after scrapping their mandatory military service in 2001. The US got involved with the long-running civil war in Yemen in 2016, to do with the Houthi rebels. The UK is now involved and Yemen is being bombed.
Novelty: It is a big thing, a war, that also affects us now as the UK have got involved, bombing Yemen, but it does seem that war is becoming more common 3/5

Barbie leading actress Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig didn't get nominated for Oscar awards whilst Ryan Gosling got nominated for Best Supporting Actor. The message of the Barbie movie surrounds sexism and the struggle of women in a patriarchal world, and the movie is the highest grossing movie of 2023 earning $636,238,421. Ryan Gosling has voiced his disappointment that Greta and Margot were not also nominated for major Oscar categories, "But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie".
Novelty: It is the story of one of the biggest movies last year and its leading actress Margot Robbie aswell as its director Greta Gerwig not being nominated whilst supporting actor Ryan Gosling was nominated. So the fact that Margot was not nominated is controversial 4/5
Human Interest: It may be an issue of sexism, as the Barbie movie was supposed to be empowering women however the women behind the movie are not getting nominated whilst Ryan Gosling is. However it is not the biggest problem in the world now so there is not a lot of human interest 3/5
